Teahouse "Rohat" named the "best tea house" in the world

Teahouse "Rohat" (Tajik. Choihonai Rogat) in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) was named by CNN among the "best tea houses" in the world.
Teahouse "Rohat", which in Tajik means "rest", "pleasure", was built in 1958 on the site of the square leading to the summer theater, called the "Green Theater". This two-story building, decorated in a national style, has open terraces, columns, painted ceilings and walls, colored glass mosaics, which in the 50s were an innovation for the eastern decor of the building in the architectural construction of the capital. The use of colored glass on the ceiling of the teahouse in sunny time gave the interior of the building a special flavor. The teahouse has become a place not only for tea and relaxation, but also a favorite place for socializing of local citizens who have moved to the capital of fellow villagers studying in Dushanbe for students and, of course, the older generation, pensioners. Around the teahouse, fountains with shady alleys were built, trestle beds-katas were installed, where it was possible to sit down on the kurpak (national mattresses) and pillows in the hot season. A peculiar flavor of tea drinking was given by the fragrance of roses and the singing of quail in the adjacent territory - the “summer” teahouse. Residents and guests of the capital could always enjoy not only tea, but also delicious dishes of the national Tajik cuisine - hot cakes and samsa, pilaf and kebabs, lagman and shurpa.
