The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka.
During the meeting the two sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation pertaining to economic and social spheres.
The President of the country Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Tajikistan and JICA in the fields of implementation of investment projects, raising qualification of Tajik public servants, implementing drinking water supply projects, protection of mother and child health, development of agriculture sector, improving road-infrastructure, aviation and energy and enhancing state border management.
The two sides affirmed their readiness to further expand collaboration in priority areas, i.e. joint strategic plans, in particular the New Partnership Program with Tajikistan for the implementation of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, as well as to implement Tajikistan's strategic goals and objectives for improving the situation in the communications, energy and agricultural spheres.
The meeting also discussed issues of improving the business climate, promoting employment, improving competitiveness, developing export-linked infrastructure, creating new jobs, attracting Japan's grant assistance to prevent natural disasters, and reducing the impact of climate change to the country's economy.
In conclusion, it was stressed that cooperation in order to train specialists and civil servants in various areas of management, financial and banking system, tourism, road construction, energy and other important spheres could be among priorities for the development of bilateral cooperation.
